Endoscopic Brow Lift

endoscopicbrowlift

Wrinkles and frown lines are a common sign of aging for men and women alike. As gravity tugs on your skin and muscles, the entire forehead loosens up and gives the appearance of being tired, sad, or angry. To combat this, plastic surgeons have developed many different kinds of brow lifts that can smooth the forehead and reduce signs of aging.

The endoscopic brow lift is the most revolutionary of all cosmetic procedures. Consistent, lasting, dramatic results can now be achieved. It is particularly useful with younger patients where the removal of excess skin is not required.

Since an endoscopic browlift can significantly reduce the frown lines between the eyes, it is often performed in conjunction with upper eyelid surgery to achieve optimal results.

The traditional procedure requires large incisions which would be hidden in the hairline, however endoscopic brow lift surgery can avoid the need for large incisions by using small probes with cameras at the tip that allow the surgeon to see inside the body. Therefore an endoscopic brow lift can produce the same results as a traditional lift with fewer complications.

Who is suitable for endoscopic browlift?

An endoscopic browlift is most commonly performed in the 40-60 age range to minimize the visible effects of aging. However, it can also help people of any age who have developed furrows or frown lines due to stress or muscle activity. Individuals with inherited conditions, such as a low, heavy brow or furrowed lines above the nose can achieve a more alert and refreshed look with this procedure. Furthermore, an endoscopic brow lift is ideal for patients with insufficient hair to cover up large incisions.

What to think about at this stage

It is important that, before you see Mr Rezai, you consider what you are trying to achieve from your surgery. Smokers are advised to stop smoking for at least two weeks prior to surgery, in order to help healing and reduce the risk of infection.

How is endoscopic brow lift performed?

At the actual procedure, four or five incisions about an inch long are made around the hairline. The endoscope is then inserted into one of them and allows the surgeon to see what’s going on under the skin on a viewing screen.

Another probe with a cutting tool or grabbing tool is inserted to allow the procedure to take place. By watching what happens on the screen, the surgeon can then lift the forehead skin, muscles, and underlying tissues. He can even lift the eyebrows by suturing them beneath the skin.

Once the adjustments are made, the probes are removed and the incisions are sealed. The incisions are smaller, less prone to infection, and heal faster than traditional ones.

Following the operation

As with all surgery, you must expect to feel bruised and sore. A bandage is applied to the forehead for two days to reduce swelling. Sutures are removed after one week. You may also be asked to keep your head elevated for a few days to help the swelling go down.

Risks & Complications

Cosmetic surgery is amongst the very safest of medical procedures. However, all patients must understand and accept that no surgical procedure is absolutely free from risk.

At Consultation, Mr Rezai will discuss these risks with you.

How long will the results of your endoscopic brow lift last?

Often, patients don’t realize how much their sagging forehead contributed to the signs of aging until they see how much younger and more rested they appear after the lift. Although a brow lift does not stop the clock, it can minimize the appearance of aging for years.

You will always look younger than you otherwise would, but over the years your face will continue to age.
