Breast Enlargement London

Breast Enlargement, also known as Breast
Enhancement or Augmentation, involves introducing into the breast an
artificial implant so as to increase the breast's size and also, where
necessary, produce a certain amount of uplift.
Breast Enlargement and Enhancement surgery
is by far the most
popular cosmetic surgery procedure requested by women. The number of
women choosing to have breast enlargement and enhancement
surgery has been ever increasing throughout the past 20 years, and this
number continues to increase year by year.
Why do women seek breast
enlargement? Well, there are many reasons, prime amongst them
being
- So as to feel more feminine
- In order to look better wearing certain
garments
- So as to regain their youthful figure,
often after childbirth
Who makes a good
candidate for breast
enlargement and augmentation surgery?
- Women who don't naturally possess the
size of breasts the would like
- Women whose breasts have reduced in size
due to losing weight
- Women whose breasts have reduced in size
after breast-feeding a baby
- Women who have lost one or both breasts
due to cancer or other disease
- Women whose breasts have not fully
developed - which might apply to just one or both breasts
What you should consider at this
time
Before you consult a cosmetic breast
surgeon, you should think about precisely you want to achieve
from breast surgery.
Just what are your objectives? In particular, it is essential to decide
justwhat size you want your breasts to be.
It is important to note that there are technical considerations and
limitations as to what extent your
surgeon is able to increase your breast size, and the objective
should always be to create a realistic result that is always harmoneous
with your figure and body type.

Breast Enhancement

How is breast enlargement and
enhancement carried out?
- Firstly, the breast enlargement operation
is normally performed under
a general anaesthetic
- The operation typically takes about
thirty to forty minutes
- Patients regularly remain in hospital
overnight
- If your work is not too physical, you
can anticipate
returning to work after one week
- Nnormal physical
exercise can be resumed within four to six weeks
As with most surgical procedures, in breast
enlargement surgery there are
several options, depending upon the patient’s own wishes,
certain technical
considerations and preferences of the surgeon.
Essentially their are three basic types of
incision possible. Mr Rezai will advise upon
the best option for you. The types are
- Around the lower half of the areola
- In the natural crease under the breast
- Through the armpit
Once the incision hs been made, the implant
can be situated in one of two possible locations:
- Between the breast tissue and the
pectoral muscle lying over the ribs, or
- Between the pectoral muscle and the ribs
themselves
Today, the choice of implant material is
essentially
between either saline or cohesive silicone gel. However most surgeons
now tend to favour silicone breast implants, following the recent
report of the British
Government’s Independent Review Groupt on the safety of
silicone breast implants.
It is recommended that you visit the
IRG’s web site at www.silicone-review.gov.uk
Following your breast enlargement
operation
As with all types of surgery, you can
anticipate
feeling somewhat bruised and sore. Your breasts will probably be
swollen. You may also
be asked to sleep on your back and to avoid any bending or otherwise
straining exercise for a
few weeks. It will also be necessary to wear a support bra.
The good news is that the majority of patients are
able to return to their normal lifestyle within three to four
weeks.
There will also quite naturally be a scar,
but as with all scars, this will fade over time. In many women, the
scars will heal forming faint white
lines. But you should be aware that no surgical scar will
ever
totally disappear.
Risks & Complications of
breast Enlargement and Enhancement
Cosmetic surgerycan be considered one of
the safest medical procedures. However, patients should
understand and accept
that no surgical procedure is totally risk-free.
At Consultation, Mr Rezai will discuss the
risks with you. The risks are also outlined in
detail in the "Patient Guide for Breast Augmentation".
Breast enlargement/enhancement does not
normally
interfere with breast-feeding. Breast enlargement does however have
implications for mammography in the screening for breast cancer.
However,
there are special types of X-ray that can be employed to avoid such
problems.
How long will the results of your breast
enhancement last?
For the majority of women, the results
of breast enlargement are permanent. The lifespan of
breast implants is covered in greater depth in our Patient Guide
booklet. Women who opt for larger implants, may find that their breasts
do tend to sag rather more as they get older.
